Hiking

Mount Fløyen

Great view of Bergen city on clear days.

Please check the websites live web-cam. Fog = no view!

Funicular runs frequently. Adults 90NOK/Children 45NOK/Family tickets 2+2 240NOK for round tickets. It’ also possible to buy one way tickets for approximately half price. Walking up takes about 30 minutes, depending on speed and physical form. In the summer the waiting time can be pretty bad. Walk if you can! A good option is to take the funicular up, and walk back down. Norwegians loves walking!

From Fløyen you can keep going to “Brushytten” and “Rundemanen” 568 meters above sea level. There is a road all the way up, so no climbing is necessary, but it can get really windy and freezing during low season (October-April). Bring warm and waterproof clothes and solid walking shoes.

Mount Ulriken

Take bus number 2 or 3 from «Småstrandgaten bus stop»  and get off  at «Haukeland Sykehus Nord» (Haukeland hospital North). From there you have to walk around 500m upwards between the hospital buildings to get to the Ulriken Cable Car that takes you to the top of Mount Ulriken. It’s also possible to walk. Did I mention Norwegians loves walking? It will take about 45-60 min and it’s quite steep, but from 644 meters above sea level, a great view awaits!

In the summer it’s possible to by a «bus and cable car round trip» that leaves from the city centre and costs 270Nok adult/170Nok children/720Nok family ticket.

Please always check Ulriken Facebook-page or web cam as the funicular is often closed due to strong wind!

Vidden

The tour between Mount Ulriken and Mount Fløyen is one of the the most popular tours in Bergen. Beautiful views of Bergen and the region. It’s about 5 hours if you use either the Fløibanen funicular or the Mount Ulriken cable car to get up (depending on which mountain you start on.)
Please note that this is quite a long walk, and not recommend for unexperienced hikers. Remember to bring enough food and water, and consult the tourist information (or us) if you want to go in the off-season. The weather can be quite brutal in the winter, so the tour is best enjoyed in the summer.
